This work is quite different from my current works and it really should be as it is an example of my earlier works, from my grad school years. I was experimenting a lot with layering at that time. This painting is layered with washes of acrylic paint but also inks and iridescent pigments in various media. I was also using mostly draughtsman’s film so that light could be transferred through the material for illuminating effects that changes the painting depending on the light. The film is a type of translucent myler that has ‘teeth’ and a rough texture that can be painted on with water soluble paints.
